Topic: Patterns of Institutional and Elite Transformation in Early Modern Yemen (15th - 17th Centuries)

Speaker: Ekaterina Pukhovaia, Princeton University
Respondent: TBA

After receiving my BA (2012) and MA (2014) from Lomonosov Moscow State University in Russia, I spent six formative years in Princeton University’s PhD program in Near Eastern Studies and completed a dissertation on the development of the Zaydi imamate in Yemen (15th-17th centuries). My research focuses on state-building and transformations of elites in the pre-modern Middle East, and the comparative study of pre-modern political systems.
