Yossef Rapoport is a historian of the social, economic, and legal history of the medieval Middle East, and a professor of Islamic history at Queen Mary University London. I received my PhD from the Department of Near Eastern Studies, Princeton University, in 2002. My publications include Marriage, Money and Divorce in medieval Islamic Society (2005), Lost Maps of the Caliphs (with Emilie Savage-Smith, 2018) and Rural Economy and Tribal Society in Islamic Egypt (2018), recipient of the Middle East Medievalists bi-annual book prize.
