After receiving her BA (2012) and MA (2014) from Lomonosov Moscow State University in Russia, Ekaterina spent six formative years in Princeton University’s PhD program in Near Eastern Studies and completed a dissertation on the development of the Zaydi imamate in Yemen (15th-17th centuries). Her research focuses on state-building and transformations of elites in the pre-modern Middle East, and the comparative study of pre-modern political systems.
