Ahmed AlMaazmi successfully defended his doctoral dissertation, “An Enchanted Sea: Occultism, Empire, and Society in the Western Indian Ocean, 1450–1750” at his Final Public Oral Examination held on May 28, 2025. The examination committee consisted of his advisor, Bernard Haykel (NES), Michael Laffan (History), and Matthew Melvin-Koushki (University of South Carolina).
