Cevat Dargin, who received his Ph.D. in Near Eastern Studies in 2021, has been named the Nikit and Eleanora Ordjanian Visiting Professorship in Armenian Studies in the Department of Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies at Columbia University. He will teach a course there titled “Armenians and the Modern World.” Dargin is currently the Manoogian Postdoctoral Fellow in Armenian Studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor Since September 2022, where he taught a course on “Nations and Nationalism.” He has recently published an article, “Anticipatory Historical Geographies of Violence: Imagining, Mapping and Integrating Dersim into the Ottoman Empire and the Turkish State, 1866–1939,” in the Journal of Historical Geography.
