Harshbarger ’24 Wins Rhodes Scholarship

Sam Harshbarger, who is pursuing a minor in Near Eastern Studies, has been awarded a Rhodes Scholarship. A history major, Harshbarger is preparing a senior thesis tentatively titled “Between Cold War and Decolonization: Turkey and Post-Colonial Afro-Asia, 1951–1960.” He is fluent in Spanish and Turkish, with advanced proficiency in Azerbaijani and Russian, and is a member of the Behrman Undergraduate Society of Fellows, a student fellow of the Center for Security Studies and an undergraduate fellow of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions.
