Rami Koujah was a co-winner of the 2025 Julien Mezey Dissertation award awarded by the Association for the Study of Law, Culture and the Humanities for his dissertation entitled “Rights, Responsibility, and the Legal Construction of the Human: An Intellectual History of Personhood in Islamic Law.” This annual prize is awarded to the dissertation that most promises to enrich and advance interdisciplinary scholarship at the intersection of law, culture and the humanities. Koujah defended his dissertation on July 24, 2024.
