Weiss and Mikhail’s Translation of The Beekeeper Named to 2018 National Book Awards Longlist for Translated Literature

Associate Professor of History and Near Eastern Studies Max Weiss and poet and journalist Dunya Mikhail’s translation of Mikhail’s The Beekeeper: Rescuing the Stolen Women of Iraq has been named to the 2018 National Book Awards longlist in the category of Translated Literature. The Beekeeper tells the harrowing stories of several women who managed to escape the clutches of Daesh. “Powerful and heartbreaking,” “The Beekeeper is a brutally important, electrifying, and lyrical true story.”
