Fourth-year Ph.D. student Alika Zangieva has been awarded the 2024 Andreas Tietze Memorial Fellowship in Turkish Studies at the University of Vienna. During the fellowship (June 3–August 2, 2024), Zangieva plans to “dive into the historiography on Ottoman paramilitary structures,” and she will work closely with Onur Inal of the Department of Near Eastern Studies. Zangieva is currently studying Arabic in the CASA program.
