Bio/Description
Salaam, سلام
Born and raised in Shiraz, Iran, I studied Persian literature and Fine Arts in both Iran and the United States (B.A., The College of New Jersey; M.A., Montclair University). I have taught Persian to non-native speakers since 1993, and joined Princeton’s Department of Near Eastern Studies in 2007. My specialties include modern Iranian literature and culture.
NES offers three levels of Persian (two semesters each) as well as a literature course. This year, I am also offering a course on contemporary Iranian movies. Students in all levels are exposed to colloquial Persian from the very beginning in order to be able to easily communicate with native Persian speakers.
